A Christian preoccupation and preference for the types and the shadows from the Old Testament prophets often shows a deep lack of understanding and interest in Jesus Christ. Who now defines what God is doing and saying in the here and now. They were looking forward to what we can now be experiencing.
We don’t memorize lessons from the former things, from the prophets who were looking ahead to what we have now. Then go do accordingly out of our own personal determination and greatness as loyal servants doing favors for a distant God.
No Christian life nor ministry should look like that.
All Old Testament lessons track back to Jesus Christ, who is the pinnacle of all theology. The center and the supreme of all God has ever and is now teaching and doing with humanity.
“Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.”
Hebrews 1:1-2
