Which side of the coin do you fall to?
- Self-confident and arrogant.
- Self-anxious and insecure.
These two issues are essentially the same inner problem, they are two sides to the same coin.
Same problem just expressed through different personalities. Sometimes even seen in the same person at various times and seasons of life.
It does seem that it’s a bit easier to fool ourselves by faking humility than it is to fake peace and inner rest.
So those who are self centered and arrogant don’t see their own inner need as quickly as those who are self centered and anxious. At least that’s been my experience.
Neither can fix himself no matter what mental tricks or how hard we try.
Sometimes the cocky/ arrogant guy surrounds himself with those humble anxious ones thinking he is helping them and thereby defeating his arrogance.
Other times the anxious/ fearful one follows around the arrogant confident ones thinking he can maybe learn his ways and thereby defeat his inner fear and insecurity.
A circle of self deception
Only one off-ramp
Only a clear and accurate glimpse of Jesus Christ from the heart can release us from these inner problems. Inner problems expressed through different personalities.
A spiritual view of the magnitude of Jesus Christ who is the provider and source of all humility and peace of mind any how.
Seeing him clearly, moment by moment, is the key to life.
Seeing him in each of our impossible and painful circumstances at a time.
