If Your Eye is Bad

Money represents success and power within the kingdom of darkness.

But in the kingdom of Jesus Christ it’s not much of a thing at all. Take it or leave it.

Jesus doesn’t use it to reach people. And he doesn’t teach us to use it to reach people.

We just wish and pretend he does, because we love its power.

The best attitude to have about money is a take or leave it attitude that is very generous for the poor around us.

If the wealthy Christians in the west would give more to the poor around us, and less on fancy buildings and expensive church shows maybe the poor among us would stop harassing the country with this constant push for govt-based socialism.

“But if your eye is bad (after money) your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!”

Matthew 6:23

Trust In Money

The rich in her boastful confidence and the poor in his anxious insecurity both have inner thoughts of TRUST IN MONEY.

A rich person who trusts in money will boast and congratulate himself. They must …it’s the way of the world, it is how to get MORE.

A poor person who trusts in money will manipulate and struggle with greed and give themselves over to pursuing MONEY & THINGS. Stealing from and manipulating those around him …without a second thought.

There are many other implications to this way of thinking. Trust in money impacts how and why we are productive. How we treat people. How ambitions we are and why.

There is no easy or natural way out of this, trying hard to not trust in money just does not work. It is the human condition it is our natural state, like hair color.

Only by our daily death and the new life that is the person of Jesus Christ is there a new way.

A Sure Sign That Jesus is Lord

One of the signs that Jesus gave for himself being the Christ was that the gospel of the kingdom was being preached to the poor.

Of all people? the poor?, didn’t he know there was good reason they were poor?

There is a reason that Jesus went to the poor, and it was much deeper that he was benevolent.

The poor don’t do well with our money system. Some of us see our money system as a measure of goodness, the rich often see their richness as a sign they are good. But our wealth and richness is not necessarily a sign we are good.

It is however a sign we know how to and are willing to function in Satan’s money-based (rat race) economy.

Jesus has an entirely different system altogether. His ecclesia (church) is not to be founded upon money. The church that has at its foundation a huge budget and fat portfolio, and an impressive benefits package is by definition a worldly thing. It’s way of organizing is more aligned with Satan than with Jesus Christ. They may love Jesus but for all practical purposes he is likely to essentially just be a mascot of the church.

The ecclesia of Jesus Christ is made up of the poor (being led of the spirit of Jesus) helping the poor and it crumbles the mightiest and richest empires on earth.

Rich churches of today are very often spiritually irrelevant, they have their reward already and it is their money, and the things, and the great people that their budget is buying them.
