With Him As Our Connection

If we can have fellowship around Jesus Christ together we really have something. With Him as our connection we have it all, we have the future. All our other beliefs and opinions and distinctions pale in comparison.

On the other hand, we can have a thousand other things in common, be blood relatives, think lock in step politically. Listen to the same sermons, love the same songs.

But if we are not on the same page about Jesus Christ and can’t discuss him freely. We don’t have a whole lot that is tangible or lasting together. If you are a Christian this is true about all your relationships.

Let Jesus freely have your relationships …all of them.

Make him top priority with your spouses and children, no need to get weird and overly spiritual, just soberly discuss him constantly.

Also, any group of people who cannot have face to face fellowship around Jesus Christ are not real ecclesia’s/ churches. If Jesus discussion makes things awkward, the group is something else religiously and something else that is not worth a lot of time.

I’d rather spend an hour fellowshipping over coffee with one or two brothers or sisters sharing Jesus back and forth (the real house of God). Than 3 hours in a crowd awkwardly and politely watching a great show about him.

Jesus Worhsip

Deny Self ? Deny Jesus?

“If anyone would come after me, let him DENY HIMSELF and take up his cross and FOLLOW ME”

Mark 8:34 ESV

“And Jesus said to him, “Truly, I tell you, this very night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times.””

Mark 14:30 ESV

In our lives someone WILL BE and MUST BE denied EVERY SINGLE day. Self or Jesus Christ.

We cannot follow Jesus and put self #1.

To put Jesus #1 and follow him is to put self (with his/her desire for pride of life and status and pleasure and ease and honor and money) in his proper place …daily…repeatedly.

A Sure Sign That Jesus is Lord

One of the signs that Jesus gave for himself being the Christ was that the gospel of the kingdom was being preached to the poor.

Of all people? the poor?, didn’t he know there was good reason they were poor?

There is a reason that Jesus went to the poor, and it was much deeper that he was benevolent.

The poor don’t do well with our money system. Some of us see our money system as a measure of goodness, the rich often see their richness as a sign they are good. But our wealth and richness is not necessarily a sign we are good.

It is however a sign we know how to and are willing to function in Satan’s money-based (rat race) economy.

Jesus has an entirely different system altogether. His ecclesia (church) is not to be founded upon money. The church that has at its foundation a huge budget and fat portfolio, and an impressive benefits package is by definition a worldly thing. It’s way of organizing is more aligned with Satan than with Jesus Christ. They may love Jesus but for all practical purposes he is likely to essentially just be a mascot of the church.

The ecclesia of Jesus Christ is made up of the poor (being led of the spirit of Jesus) helping the poor and it crumbles the mightiest and richest empires on earth.

Rich churches of today are very often spiritually irrelevant, they have their reward already and it is their money, and the things, and the great people that their budget is buying them.
