Inserting Jesus

If we can insert Jesus Christ himself into our conversations, into our relationships, be they friendships, family or even foes.

Then we are making a great spiritual accompaniment.

Not necessarily discussions of church, or discussions on the greatness of some pastor, not discussions of theology, and not discussions of how our faith affects our opinions on politics. Those are usually not useful and they pale in comparison to him. They do little to no good spiritually to help people.

But making insertions of Jesus Christ himself into our relationships. Expressions of love, devotion, and awe at him personally.

If we are willing and able to do this with the people in our lives then these are tremendous spiritual accomplishments. Far more significant than we can imagine long term.

For he is the tip of the spear of the new creation. The kingdom of God which is displacing all other kingdoms. He is the beginning and end of the invasion of God into Satan’s world system we find ourselves in. And one by one we, his loyal, devoted and passionate followers, get to wield his spear and pick off spiritually dead people. To liven them and begin to return them to life again in Jesus Christ. Reclaiming humanity one person at a time.

What a wonderful Lord that he would include us in this process.

Eyewitnesses of His Majesty

For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. For when he received honor and glory from God the Father, and the voice was borne to him by the Majestic Glory, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased,” we ourselves heard this very voice borne from heaven, for we were with him on the holy mountain.”

Men whose eyes have seen the King. By T. Austin Sparks part 1: http://audio.austin-sparks.net/TAS0155.mp3

Many of the disciples saw Jesus Christ in a way that caused them to leave all and follow him. They saw his majesty; they saw his glory. They saw him as he really IS, and it changed them forever. Furthermore, their view of him changed the world forever. The fact that they saw Jesus Christ as he really is, the fact that they saw his glory.

In light of this we should never make the foundation of our ministry upon anything else besides Jesus Christ.

Our Ministry Foundation

Not to take anything away from great ministers of the past but for example, Martin Luther, made his ministry founded on the idea that the bible alone “sola scriptura” and not the Roman clergy should be our foundation. And no doubt that was a message God used him to help his generation with so I don’t mean to criticize but for subsequent ministers to make that their ministerial foundation is an overemphasis on something that is deeply lacking and inferior to Jesus Christ.

Calvin and Wesley made it on different sides of the issue of predestination. They began to divisively define many Christians around them on that one narrow issue. Creating opponents out of those who should be brothers dwelling together in unity. Sometimes judging and squabbling very unfairly with one another. Other preachers have founded their ministry upon evangelism. I have watched many, many modern ministers and pastors founding their ministries upon things like faith for miracles, or hope, or love. Good things that should be discussed but when overemphasized and made to be the central foundation of their entire ministry its out of balance. Some make the particulay denomination that they inherited their unique distinction, taking up the offenses and overemphasis of the past as their own personal battles. Making their pet issues more critical than Jesus Christ Himself.

There is this mistaken idea that we need to differentiate ourselves from the crowd to get noticed. But when we do this, when we found our ministry on things other. Sooner or later the founding of our ministry gets exposed at least partially, for the work of flesh that it is or was.

If in fact a ministry is not on a spiritual glimpse of Jesus Christ, if our eyes have not seen the King, then our ministry will inevitably be a work of the flesh to varying degrees.

The Coming Age – Another Perspective

(Written in 2021). As I read this post from 2014 and as we get ready to inaugurate Joe Biden. I can’t help but reflect on how quickly we forgot what the Obama-Biden administration did to the geo political world. If Biden really won, how quickly we forgot their constant blunders and scandals. There was a massive spike in terrorism and worldwide murder.

It was a time of disaster for freedom and for world peace.

(Written in 2014). As we see the happenings in the world, the rise of Islamic mass murder, the surge of ISIS and the political cooperation of the ruling class in the US, (by incompetence, by compliance or both). As we see the culture in the US and in Europe become more hostile and indifferent to Christ. As we see political correctness silencing right and ignoring wrong making things far more dangerous than they need to be. As we see the conspiring to kill and to undermine the US. It is tempting to fret, to fear, to despair and to want to climb into a hole and hide.

But, with this post I want to suggest another perspective.

Just before Jesus established his kingdom on earth through his Spirit dwelling within his body of believers he said “the gates of hell will not prevail against the church” (), he also said “all authority in heaven and earth has been given unto me“().  And we also know that “of the increase of his government there shall be no end.” ()

Maybe… just maybe the turmoil in the middle east, the horrific torturing and mass murder of the innocents, the refugee crises, the export of refugees (and terrorists) from Syria are responses to things that we can not see with our eyes and are never reported on.

Many of the children in the middle east are lied to daily about Jesus Christ. They are lied to and trained to lie about who he is and about what his people are like. From a very young age they are brain-washed to hate and some trained to murder.

Most of the countries in the middle east are ruled by corrupt politicians and/ or dictators, many installed or propped up by the US.

Maybe in response to these realities the Lord needed a weakened US to free the next generation of Syrians to hear of Jesus and to respond accordingly. Many wont respond but many others will.

Maybe Satan’s death-grip on the middle east and the Muslim world is beginning to break up.  Maybe the horrors we’ve seen will only further accelerate this in the hearts and minds of many in the middle east.  Maybe the Lord himself orchestrated all that we’ve seen in the past few years.  Maybe the Lord himself wants the Syrians and others in the middle east exposed to the gospel and spread around the world away from their enslavement to satans lies about Jesus Christ.

If we study history, ancient history (or not so ancient), we can clearly see the hand of God. What seems evil, unjust and terrible for the people going through it, results in gain for Jesus Christ and his purpose. Every time we see geo-political changes I believe it is a response to things happening in the unseen reality, in the spirit realm where evil spiritual authorities try to enslave and to destroy mankind.

Maybe Satan is panicking! because of all the people who are coming to the Lord in the middle east that we are not hearing about or seeing. Maybe Satan is panicking because some of those children are now hearing truth about Jesus Christ, maybe the only way to get many of them to hear is to relocate them away from the lying brainwashers?

What looks like loss to luke-warm Christianity, may be gain for Jesus Christ.

He is, after all the current Lord of all.
