Preoccupied with the Former Things

A Christian preoccupation and preference for the types and the shadows from the Old Testament prophets often shows a deep lack of understanding and interest in Jesus Christ. Who now defines what God is doing and saying in the here and now. They were looking forward to what we can now be experiencing.

We don’t memorize lessons from the former things, from the prophets who were looking ahead to what we have now. Then go do accordingly out of our own personal determination and greatness as loyal servants doing favors for a distant God.

No Christian life nor ministry should look like that.

All Old Testament lessons track back to Jesus Christ, who is the pinnacle of all theology. The center and the supreme of all God has ever and is now teaching and doing with humanity.

“Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭1:1-2‬ ‭

“I Am Sorry”

These words:
“I was wrong” or “I am sorry” or words to that effect.

When sincere, are some of the most powerful words in the English language. Confess your sins one to another is how things are in the kingdom of heaven.

Politicians won’t say them, they can’t say them if they want to remain in charge of the kingdoms they oversee.

Theses words precede us entering the kingdom of heaven. And must remain with us if we are to love one another.

Allow Jesus to Edit You

I am amazed at Christian’s who never change their beliefs about things. And who even get angry when others change or update their beliefs.

Not sure we are following the same Lord? Maybe your clergy is lord, and He changes not.

But the truth is …Unless you are Jesus himself your interpretation and understanding of the Lord and of scripture is flawed in part & incomplete.

Now go and reconsider something you thought was true, let Jesus do some edits. You don’t have to change your mind just reconsider it.

This is a Jesus thing, some call it ‘the renewing of the mind’, some call it ‘being transformed into his image.’ Whatever you call it, it’s wonderful and it reminds me continually that I have a living Lord. Who is forever pouring himself into me.
