Free Resources During Coronavirus Isolation

Updated on 3/20/2020: I’ve been offered some free resources during this coronavirus isolation month. And I thought I would compile and share (in one place) a list of free and discounted resources (and even food) during this time of isolation.

Free Wifi During Coronavirus

Comcast is offering wifi hotspots available nationwide due to the coronavirus.

The hotspots will be available with no data caps, disconnects or late fees and speeds will increase to 3 Mbps. This allows parents and students to have access to news and educational content.

Once at a hotspot, select “xfinitywifi” network name from the wifi menu, then launch the preferred browser.

XFinity

To find an Xfinity WiFi Hotspot, check the hotspot location map at wifi.xfinity.com or download the Xfinity WiFi Hotspots app from the App Store or Google Play.

Xfinity is making it easier for low-income families who live in a Comcast service area to sign up by offering new customers 60 days of complimentary Internet Essentials service.

According to Xfinity’s website, that service is normally $9.95 a month.

The company is also increasing internet speeds for the Internet Essentials service from 15/2 Mbps to 25/3 Mbps for all new and existing customers, which will be the speed of the service going forward.

To receive the increased Internet speeds, existing customers will not need to do anything.

For new customers, applicants visit www.internetessentials.com. The accessible website also includes the option to video chat with customer service agents in American Sign Language. There are also two dedicated phone numbers 1-855-846-8376 for English and 1-855-765-6995 for Spanish.

Xfinity WiFi hotspots across the country will also be available to anyone who needs them for free – including non-Xfinity Internet customers. For a map of Xfinity WiFi hotspots, visit xfinity.com/wifi. Once at a hotspot, consumers should select the “xfinitywifi” network name in the list of available hotspots, and then launch a browser.

Socialism, Satan & Jesus

The concept of Socialism (using the state to pool resources and to create financial equality) could work. But only if we were to completely remove the state from the equation. The state represents human government, which is irredeemable. This realization was the foundation of the US government. They concluded, at best we can separate powers and keep the people free to violently defend themselves (by bearing arms).

I think the root cause for this fact is that the concept of the state is inseparable from the influence and control of Satan. And Satan is inseparable from stealing, killing, and destroying. So for now, we should consider all forms human government as synonymous with stealing, killing, and destroying. Socialism is usually strongly resisted so it requires dictatorships to try to implement…things go down hill fast from there. Think of the formally prosperous Venezuela as the most recent of many examples. It won’t always be that way but for now it is.

The best way to work around this is to separate powers within a state. And to separate finances from the state into the hands of the people (capitalism). To concentrate money in the state is to tear down society.

This disturbing fact is true everywhere human government dominates on earth. The only place this is not the case is where Jesus Christ personally dominates a people. Not Christian leaders but Jesus personally.

Jesus Christ is the only alternative to the state, or human government. Wherever he is Lord, natural, voluntary love-based “socialism” happens.

Where he is dominant in people, there is genuine and lasting equality, generosity, sharing with one another and with the poor, out of love, equality, racial blindness, gender equality. “In Christ there is neither rich, nor poor, slave nor free, male nor female, all are one in him.”

Where he is not in charge, there is unfair hierarchy, there is inequality (financial, racial, social). If unchecked, there is tyranny from government, and there is the rich dominating and taking from the poor.

So the next time you hear people say we need more socialism or capitalism. Think no we need more a Jesus Christ, we need more Jesus people, much more! Then become one yourself, he deserves it.

Rest, Peace, and Intense Fervent Seeking

On one hand …

a Christian is securely blessed, she is to live in perpetual rest and peace in Jesus. No need for performance or living up to others expectations. No laws needed, just a relaxed state of resting in God, hidden in Jesus Christ. As we die daily, surrendering our life, our ambitions and our good works. We are to live in a perpetual sabbath rest, a perpetual Jubilee feast. We are seated very high in heavenly places far above anything whatsoever to worry about. Goodness and mercy following us, laying beside the still waters that he brings us to.

but on the other hand…

We are to intensely and fervently seek and pursue Jesus Christ. As if no one or nothing else mattered. We are to be so spiritually violent with spiritual things that we seem obsessed. In hot pursuit of knowing him alone, no distractions, we’re not to major on any thing good or bad other than knowing Jesus Christ alone.

Completely and totally handing over our lives to him, given over to him. Losing friends if necessary, offending family if needed. Given over to him to the point of death.

Lukewarm-ness and self-centeredness becomes a foreign language to us. Which is are not remotely enticing.

We relax and live at rest and peace concerning life and death and provision. But we are intensely…fervently striving to know Jesus Christ. Digging deep in him, daily using spiritual violence with our own sin. Yet using extreme mercy with other’s sin.

Hebrew 4:9 there remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. 10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. 11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest (through belief in Jesus Christ), lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief (people of Israel not entering Cannan because of unbelief.)
