What is the GOSPEL of THE STATE?

You read that right, THE GOSPEL OF THE STATE. This post is not to be confused with article about “the state of the gospel”. This is about the gospel of the state. The word state meaning a centralized human government.

There is a gospel of the state being proclaimed all over the world. And I would argue it is the most popular and widely embraced gospel message on earth. Whether we live under democracy, monarchy, socialism, or a communism. The gospel of the state is preached within them all.

So what then is exactly the gospel of the state?

The Gospel of The State is the false good news and proclamation that the state, the centralized orginization of human government. Can and should be provider, protector and have the position of loving god or parent over a group of nations, an individual nation, a state, or a city.

Adam Collier

Almost every politician, embraces, teaches and many even proclaim with religious fervor their personal take on this gospel.

This gospel has been with us since the very beginning, in the Bible the story is that Cain killed Abel. He then was driven out and he went out to build a city called Enoch (see Gen 4:17). A city and its government with the intention of replacing God, to replace what Cain had lost in the garden after he had killed his brother Abel. Replace the provision, the protection, and even the very presence of God.

Most peoples of the earth fall for some version of the gospel of the state. Many Christians even, have more excitement, passion, and knowledge about their version of the gospel of the state. Than they have for the gospel of the kingdom of Jesus Christ.

Can Human Government Be Good?

The word gospel simply means “good news”, the idea that human government can be good apart from God is the foundation under this gospel of the state. Human government sets out to provide food, housing, physical protection, justice, entertainment and community. To create human government from scratch we must have a concentration of people in one place cooperating peacefully.

Gospel of the State – the Corruption of Human Government

Don’t get me wrong, human government has its place. The service of officials unto a nation, a community or a state is necessary on some level.

The pooling of money for the common good, to create roads, and systems that are impossible without cooperation. And perhaps even to set up safety protections for citizens that are agreed to. As well as for the provision of justice. However, we take it too far when we view those organizations as capable of doing what they are not capable of. We take it too far when we give individuals and agencies, God-like status and powers over ourselves and others.

Gospels of the state flourishes, grows and is spread most where there is: A concentration of power, money and even teachings about what government could and should be.

The state progressively strives to become the defender of the citizenry who have embraced the message being proclaimed. Politicians become preachers of the gospel of the state in increasing passion and conviction.

I think it’s best to look at the issue of governmental power in the context of a gospel. Because a religious gospel message is is the closest approximation of how state power, political messages and religious like fervor is displayed in nations of people.

Communsim Found in The Ecclesia …NOT the State

This article is for my leftist friends who want socialism and/or communism.

I’ve recently read the Communist Manifesto (2021) by Karl Marx. And I must say it is better than I had expected.

The problem with the communist and socialist nations and governments to date is not with the ideas of communism. The problem is with Marxism and its reliance on a STATE to implement. This is the fatal flaw of all present and past socialist movements within nations.

In a sentence, human government is tainting and destroying all efforts at communism and socialism. Human government is horrific, it destroys whatever it touches. The real and underlying reason for this is a spiritual one. Human government is linked to satanic principalities and powers. Is it not ironic that every communist nation has had a strong, oppressive, governement tryrant at its head?

We’ve only ever had real communism in Christian communities. The ones with no human government. A real Christian community that is led of the spirit has a government that is of the government of the spirit of Jesus Christ. He governs through all present. He is the system, he personally is the hierarchy, he is the judge, and he is the wisdom through every member.

Marx’s vision of the state was a collective organization of benevolent proletariat, sort of like a labor union. That was the battle of his day, abusive business owners getting rich off the laborers.

Reality resulted quickly in a powerful and oppressive hierarchy calling itself socialism or communism…with a murderous military man at it’s head.

Now with communism’s horrific reputation and the oppressive nature of leftist government thugs, Nations who go socialist quickly collapse into chaos, depression and corruption because there is such rejection to it. It is sad and unfair. The reputation of socialism and communism is the terrible reputation of human government. Godless, incompetent, corrupt and disqualified human government.

But the real reputation of communism should be attached to the ecclesia, the early church and other examples of church communities, not a brutal heirarchical human government. Marx himself looked to the Christian amish communities in America as examples that it could work. Overlooking and dismissing the role of Christian love.

Marx should not have written his book, his ideas about the STATE were like his undeveloped religion, plagiarized from Christianity. He had un reasonable and irrational beliefs about the state and misunderstandings about Jesus Christ and his followers.

Jesus Christ makes real communism work within his ecclesia, the Christian community, as designed by the Lord Jesus. And no human government is involved. No taxes are needed, only the love and the generosity of Jesus followers. It is not controlled or engineered or forced or imposed involuntarily.

We walk into it freely, voluntarily, as we seek Jesus Christ. It occurs effortlessly and without travail, without martial law, without dictators. Without vote cheating and without reliance on cruelty.

It is the most beautiful thing on earth, it is what we all are looking for.

I am writing a book about human government called The Gospel of the State, the manuscript is almost complete.

New Podcast Listener – Letter to Eric Metaxas

Dear Eric, I am a recent subscriber to your podcast and I love it so far.

I want to respectfully challenge/ question/ debate you about something and I think this letter is a good way to do this. Not sure if you’ll actually read this but maybe?

It is December 12, 2020 and I believe the election was stolen from Donald Trump illegally. I am praying for our government, that it will be overturned and that justice and truth and sanity will prevail in all the governments above us.

I am a 46 year old father of 6 and husband for 20 years, I’ve been a Christian since I was 18. I live in NY and work in CT and I love this nation.

My blog here http://AdamCollier.com is where I share my heart, I mostly write about Jesus Christ, who I know you love and sincerely follow. I have published a fiction book about a transformation of a small church here: From His Side: A Fresh Revealing of Jesus Christ Changes Everything https://www.amazon.com/dp/0692122796/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_x_.eu1FbD41PNSN

I am also writing a non fiction book about what I call the gospel of the state. It contrasts the gospel of the kingdom of Jesus Christ to the gospel of the state which I think most people of the world have embraced, including many Christians. The gospel of the state was best put to words by some of the founding fathers and by Karl Marx.

Been recently reading some of the writings of some of the founding fathers of the US. I see stark contrasts between their beliefs and writings and those of Jesus Christ.

You said in a recent podcast “shame on Christians who don’t fight back for our rights as Americans to vote and defend the constitution of the United States.”

I love the US and believe its been a force for the Lord in the world in many ways.

BUT, the government of the United States is not the nation, it is not the United States. The government of the United States is certainly not the ecclesia. Wicked principalities and powers connect and oppress people through governments, including our own. Therefore the government is not sacred, it is not a thing of Jesus Christ. IT is not a thing that we are to strive to control even if that is out of self-protection. It is a thing of the constitution. And the constitution is weak, it is weak in that it is easily ignored even by those who supposedly swear oaths to it. It is a 250 year old document of brilliant ideas about government. But reality shows that we collectively ignore the constitution, most of us don’t know what it even says and why it says it. And therefore it is very weak and almost irrelevant.

Voting also is weak and easily undermined by conspiring Satan followers, as what seems to have happened in PA, MI, WI, GA, and AZ, (curiously in all the swing states). If voting administrators want to cheat then the true vote becomes irrelevant. Furthermore, voting is not a good thing if voters are not lead of the holy spirit. Voting is also not a good thing if the Holy Spirit leads us not to vote at all and we do so anyhow. (as I believe he led me to this election cycle). “Of the people, by the people and for the people” is not a good thing if the people are following Satan (either intentionally or unwittingly).

In contrast to the constitution and the government, Jesus Christ is a real and living person. He is not weak in any way, he is not undermined and Satan cannot undo his government.

He personally is the government of God of today and the future. His followers are personally his “presidents”, his “senators”, his “judges” and his “representatives”. We are his ministers and ambassadors to people from another race entirely. We are the government agents to and for the fallen members of the human race and to the wicked principalities and powers in heavenly places. We are to seek the Lord and kingship of Jesus Christ not the control of human government.

THEREFORE, the Christian is not called to defend the constitution of the federal government of the US (as good as a foundation to govt as it may be). And I do believe its the best government man kind has devised.

Christians are not called to die and shed the blood of tyrants so that we can vote and so that we can live free of persecution.

The extent of our involvement with the government is to pray for it so that we can live quiet and peaceful lives. and to hold it accountable to submitting to Jesus Christ.

I do understand the desire for war and brining violence to the evil forces arrayed against us through confused men. But I believe Jesus does not want this, and never has. I believe the American Revolution could have happened without blood shed. I believe that slavery could have ended without blood shed. I even believe that Hitler could have been undone and vanquished without blood shed by the German ecclesia of the 1920’s and 1930’s.

I’d love to talk and debate more about this in person or through writing. I highly respect your opinion and am also a major fan of Dietrich Bonhoeffer.
