The Key to Overcoming Sin

The key to over coming sin is not found in trying harder, not found in weekly altar calls and commitments, it is not found in being in church, it is not found in serving with great devotion, it is not found in speaking in other tongues, and it is not found in extreme will-power.

I’ve posted this before and I’ll say it forever, “Jesus Christ is the solution to all problems private and public.”

The key to overcoming sin is found in Hebrews 12:1-2.

“…let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of God.” – Hebrews 12:1-2.

Laying aside weights and sin how? By “looking unto Jesus”

We look to him with spiritual eyes, we look to him alone, we look to him with others… CONSTANTLY, this is church meetings, looking to Jesus together. This is private devotions, looking to Jesus.

Can you see him? Do you really know how to look to him?

Reality Series Part 1: The Death of Humanity

Are you ready for a quick dose of reality?

As far as God is concerned all of humanity from Adam & Eve has been killed on the cross of Jesus Christ.

Romans 6:6 knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would not longer be slaves to sin

Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now love in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself up for me.

The complete extinction of humanity from Adam legally happened at the cross of Christ and an entirely new creation began at the resurrection of Christ.

A new race of people, a new humanity has begun in Jesus Christ. He is the new Adam, and is now filling everything everywhere through his bride, the new Eve, the church. That old humanity is appointed for death, both individually and in each one of us as we crucify our flesh intentionally. This is the process of Jesus Christ filling all things.

The church living in the old humanity with the Life of Jesus is often and temporarily confused and distracted from her Lord but she wont be so forever. As she gradually sees him clearly, she will actually become in reality what God sees her to be now.

Ongoing Transition, Overturning and Ruin

Did you know that we are in center of a massive transition?

It is a continuous transition, it is massive in scope and is far beyond any one person’s lifetime.

We are transitioning from a human centered world where Jesus Christ is a confusing side issue.  A religious footnote of history into a world where Jesus Christ is the absolute center and supreme of the universe. That is a massive transition but as sure as the nose on my face, it is happening.

Everything not of Jesus Christ is being dramatically shaken and ruined until Jesus Christ is Supreme. First in line for this is His people His church, in fact this over-turning and shaking results from God building the real church, his church right in the midst of, out from under and away from our human-focused organizations and systems of government and religious traditions.

We have said for generations only what is of God will remain, well we are experiencing that process… and this process often hurts, it may be very confusing and painful. In fact humanity has been experiencing it for  of years.

Ezekiel 21:26 thus says the Lord God, ‘Remove the turban and take off the crown; this will no longer be the same. Exalt that which is low and abase that which is high. 27 A ruin, a ruin, a ruin, I will make it. This also will be no more until He comes whose right it is, and I will give it to Him.’

Ephesians 1:9 He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His kind intention which He purposed in Him 10 with a view to an administration suitable to the fullness of the times, that is, the summing up of all things in Christ, things in the heavens and things on the earth.

Don’t let it surprise or scare you as it increasingly happens and do not resist the shaking, let go of the nonsense when he rips it from you.
