Every Breath You Take – Sung for Jesus Christ

The 80s song “every breath you take” by The Police, vocals by Sting is a brilliant example of a love song. I remember listening to it during my youth thinking of crushes and girlfriends.

But now I see a much greater purpose for this song. With a few minor tweaks to the lyrics it could make a wonderful love song from the church to Jesus Christ.

Jesus, when on earth in the flesh spoke of doing nothing except for what he saw the father doing.

“So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, that the Son does likewise. For the Father loves the Son and shows him all that he himself is doing. And greater works than these will he show him, so that you may marvel.”
John‬ ‭5:19-20‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Jesus knew how to watch the father. And now we who live and follow him can learn how to watch Jesus in the spirit.

Are you watching Jesus Christ in the spirit? Do you know what I mean by that? If you do then this song expresses the love you must have for watching him. I am growing in love for Christians because I can see him in their lives, and words, and eyes.

Lyrics of Every Step You Take

Every breath you take and every move you make
Every bond you break, every step you take, I’ll be watching you
Every single day and every word you say
Every game you play, every night you stay, I’ll be watching youOh, can’t you see you belong to me
How my poor heart aches with every step you take, Every move you make, and every vow you break
Every smile you fake, every claim you stake, I’ll be watching you Since you’ve gone I’ve been lost without a trace
I dream at night, I can only see your face
I look around but it’s you I can’t replace
I feel so cold and I long for your embrace
I keep crying, “Baby, baby, please”Oh, can’t you see you belong to me
How my poor heart aches with every step you take Every move you make and every vow you break
Every smile you fake, every claim you stake, I’ll be watching you
Every move you make, every step you take, I’ll be watching youI’ll be watching you
Every breath you take and every move you make
Every bond you break, every step you take (I’ll be watching you)
Every single day, every word you say
Every game you play, every night you stay (I’ll be watching you)
Every move you make, every vow you break
Every smile you fake, every claim you stake (I’ll be watching you)
Every single day, every word you say
Every game you play, every night you stay (I’ll be watching you) Every breath you take, every move you make
Every bond you break, every step you take (I’ll be watching you)
Every single day, every word you say
Every game you play, every night you stay (I’ll be watching you)
Every move you make, every vow you break
Every smile you fake, every claim you stake (I’ll be watching you)
Every single day, every word you say

Every Breath You Take – The Police

How I’d adapt the lyrics to Jesus Christ

(to be sung by a group of Jesus followers):

Every breath you take and every move you make
Every bond you break, every step you take, We’ll be watching you
Every single day and every word you say
Every game you play, every night we pray. We’ll be watching you Oh, can you see we belong to you
How my poor heart aches for every step you take Every move you make, and every vow we take
Every smile you display, every claim you stake, We’ll be watching you

Without you we are lost without a trace
We dream at night, we get to always see your face.
We look around but it’s you we can’t replace
We feel so cold and we long for your embrace

We keep crying, “Jesus, my Lord, please”

Oh, can you see we belong to you?
How my poor heart aches with every step you take Every move you make and every vow we take
Everything you say, every claim you stake, We’ll be watching you
Every move you make, every step you take, We’ll be watching you We’ll be watching you
Every breath you take and every move you make
Every bond you break, every step you take (We’ll be watching you)
Every single day, every word you say
Every game you play, every night we pray (We’ll be watching you)
Every move you make, every vow we make
Every thing you say, every claim you stake (We’ll be watching you)
Every single day, every word you say
Every game you play, every night we pray (We’ll be watching you) Every breath you take, every move you make
Every bond you break, every step you take (We’ll be watching you)
Every single day, every word you say
Every game you play, every night you stay (We‘ll be watching you)
Every move you make, every vow we make
Every thing you say, every claim you stake (We’ll be watching you)
Every single day, every word you say
Every thing you say, every night I pray (We’ll be watching you)

I am looking for someone with musical skill and love for Christ to perform this, email me at collierak@me.com if interested.

“Not Sure How Things Are In Your Kingdom”

A Christian from 50 AD walks into a bar to meets a 2019 American Christian for coffee. This is how the conversation goes.

2019 Christian: “hello brother my name is Gunther, I understand you are a Christian from the first century, I am a Christian from 2019 please tell me how things are in your churches in 50 AD.”

50AD: “my brother!!, you are a Christian, you follow the Lord? Wonderful! Well this is how a few things are in the kingdom of Jesus in 50AD. We do many things together as a community, one of the most helpful things is we do in the kingdom of Jesus that unites us is our love for Jesus himself and we routinely confess our sins one to another. “

2019 AD: “oh Well we love Kesus by singing beautiful songs about him it’s beautiful and our pastor sings great as he leads us. Here we don’t confess sin out loud per say to one another that would be embarrassing, it’s done just between us and God. “

50AD: “I’m not sure how things are in your kingdom but in the kingdom of Jesus we all take turns exalting and honoring our king.”

2019 AD: “well we have one designated guy do all the speaking, we amplify his voice with electronics and elevate him above us all sitting as an audience, he is great you should meet him his name is Pastor Roger you’d like him, you really should meet him maybe I’ll call him!”

50 AD: “Not sure how things are under your king but in the kingdom of Jesus we are all equal. We share our money one with another, we all speak, we all bring something to share, men women, children, the eloquent, the dull, rich, poor, smart, dense, we all take turns hearing our king and sharing our king. And our rich don’t get special status and favor with out king or among us.”

2019AD: “That sounds great…we tithe and the leader uses it for beautiful buildings and salaries but we do have a fund for the poor.”

2019 AD: “Only our great one shares, pastor Roger, and the tithe monies all flow through him and our volunteer professional tax accountant.”

50AD: “Not sure how things are in your kingdom but in the kingdom of Jesus we don’t compete and gossip one against another like the pagan religions do. We all cooperate with each other out of a mutual love for our king. “

2019: …awkward silence … “well if I’m honest we compete and many Christians hop from church to church throughout our lives until they find a pastor they like or who runs things like we want, but …our Pastor Roger he’s the favorite in our area, he has the largest congregation and he preaches great his congregation is growing and it’s like a revival in his meetings.“

50AD: “…silence…By the way… please don’t be upset with me but are you sure that your king is not this Pastor Roger?, I’m not sure what happened to the church after our murder in 69 AD, but can I reintroduce you to my king?”

2019 AD “Uhhh sure, but wait …let me call my pastor”

The Real Foundation of Christian Love

Christian loyalty and love one for another is nullified and torn apart if it is not within Jesus Christ!

So then how can we know if it originates from Jesus Christ?

It is Very Simple, so simple it is often overlooked.

ANY hint whatsoever of permanent hierarchy, favoritism, ongoing preeminence of one Christian or family over many. (Today we call these pastors or priests or bishops)

This nullifies the entire group as being from the lord and pushes the entire group outside of the rule and reign of Jesus Christ. Still Christians yes but now just a general association of Christians. Something vital and life-giving is gone. Where Jesus is not in charge essentially becomes a religious club, a ministry of a certain skilled man or families, it also can easily become then a cult of personality.

Good people, good motives, but not a group that’s of, by, and to our Lord Jesus. Their loyalty, unity with, and and love for one another will then necessarily become shallow and cold and human based and then will cease to be love at all.

Only in submission to and cooperation with Jesus Christ can real love and loyalty grow and happen between Jesus followers. This is the real church, the ecclesia, growing upon the ground of equality, and of Christ living and expressing himself through each member freely, as he wants. Unmanageable by any man. Uncontrollable by any marketing program or business leader. Pastors are to train their people to meet this way, then lay down all permanent dominance over a group.
