Be Aggressive About This One Thing

Aggression is not viewed as a positive things these days. Aggressive people are typically not well-liked. I tend to feel the same way about most aggressiveness. However, I think there is one area of life that we ought to be very aggressive, very assertive and very stubborn about. That is to be constantly seeking to know Jesus Christ and his kingdom.

I find an extremely wonderful way to live is to stubbornly and constantly seek to:

  • Know Jesus Christ personally.
  • Know everything about him.
  • Understand how to hear from him right now, so we do not wander off doing our own thing.
  • Tell others all we learn and know about him who have the same heart for him.
  • Listen for him in the ministry and sharing of others.

Never delegate your life’s-focus to anyone else. Take personal responsibility to make sure you are always increasing in the knowledge of him.

Don’t put up with distractions from this internal or external. Distractions that are obviously evil and/ or ones that appear religious and seem good. My definition of a distraction is absolutely anything that shifts ones focus and life-aim off of the person of Jesus Christ.

Any person, any thing, even religious idea, even “ministry visions” (that sound so good) that distracts from that. Consider them to be Satan standing in your way. He smiles and points you over to some attractive distraction.

Be spiritually aggressive toward Jesus and Satan, don’t get passive or lukewarm about knowing him.

Snap out of it, if you love Jesus at all know that he needs people like that. Jesus can build great things with a group of spiritually aggressive people like this.

Lukewarm, spiritually-retired and permanently distracted Christians are some of the most confused people on earth.

“But seek first His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Jesus Christ

There is a reason he said seek first.

Religious One-Upmanship & What It Can Teach Us

Religious One-Upmanship

I recently noticed something about when devout Christians interact from different churches. Particularly with men there is often competitive attempts “to lead” or to dominate the conversation? It sometimes seems like a passive-aggressive religious one-upmanship.

Perhaps we think “I’m not following that guy so I’ll one-up his spirituality with my own.”

This is a tangible display of the division in the modern church system. If you pay attention you can see this reinforced almost everywhere in Sunday morning sermons.

Spiritual submission is typically only taught in context to our preferred “pastors”. Teachings on love and submission and sharing Christ with those who don’t think like us is almost unheard of.

Leadership is emphasized but for the purpose of adding to the numbers of the preferred pastor’s church or denomination. “If you are loyal to me you can lead for me and we’ll agree tell others it is for God.”

Don’t be deceived, this “church system” that we have inherited is not from our Lord Jesus Christ. Yes the Lord uses people while within the system but that is because he is loyal to his people. Someone else controls the system and he needs this one-upmanship among us in order to remain in power. You can see this if and when you try to draw attention to it how you are treated. Draw attention to these facts too effectively and you quickly get labeled. You may lose friends and/or be encouraged to leave the group.

The Ecclesia of Jesus Christ

The ecclesia that Jesus Christ is building is centered and founded on him only. He is not only the periodic topic of the sermons. He is not a mascot that we are impressed with from afar. Every member seems obsessed with him and are free to proclaim him openly. There is mutual submission among the members and the guiding rule is love for all interactions. The guiding rule is not loyalty to a certain pastor or denomination.

“It is important that a distinction be made between the assembly as defined by the New Testament and churches as they are known today. Compared with the pattern of the assembly of believers as described in the New Testament, institutional churches fall far short.”
Henry Hon

Seek Meaning – Everyone is Seeking Him

Three Examples Among Millions (seek meaning)

I am sitting in Dunkin Donuts listening to a woman scold a 5-6 year old boy. For over 20 minutes she is shaming him about stealing something then lying. He seems stubborn and refusing to admit wrong in between his tears of shame. What she is seeking  (I think) is some sign of repentance, an acknowledgement of wrong doing. (seek meaning)

I am watching Shark Tank and one of the sharks is scolding someone for withholding information. What he is seeking I think is transparent honesty.

I am reading the book “the Fabric of the Cosmos” by Brian Green. The theoretical physics community is seeking for what some of them call a Theory of Everything or the unified theory. This theory will link quantum physics (subatomic) to relativity (gravity) it will explain and predict all things in this universe. What I think they want is the truth about reality. Why are we here? How did we get here and what is the purpose for us and all that we see?

Repentance, honesty, the truth about reality.

“I am the way, I am the truth, I am the life.”  – Jesus Christ

The things that humanity seeks day in day out are all associated exclusively with Jesus Christ. Life, joy, peace, provision. Jesus Christ is truth and goodness itself. We really crave him and every single human that lives (whether they realize it or not) is actually seeking him.

We want him and we crave him deep within. Our DNA is programmed to express him and live by him but we’ve been distracted and enslaved by another.

Systems of Unbelief and Distraction

Enslaved by systems that are independent and disbelieving in Jesus Christ. But he is still there and we are still seeking him. Some seek him ignorantly by default and others seek him intentionally in pursuit of knowing him.

The good thing I see, regardless of who does or does not come to him is that absolutely everything is going to Jesus Christ. He will not be a mystery to the majority of people on earth forever. He is the future itself for everyone. And when we all see him we will know why we exist, truth will prevail. Honesty and integrity will be the norm.
