Foundation Stones of The Gospel of Peter

Every Christian leader has his or her take on the gospel of the kingdom of Jesus Christ. I’ve been studying the life and the gospel and the ministry of the Apostle Simon Peter and his two letters in the New Testament (1 Peter & 2 Peter).

In these two letters I’ve found what I think are about Five Foundational Stones upon which those letters are founded. Peter would make these spiritual points and then elaborate at great length on the implications to these points. He would assume knowledge of these points about the Lord in his readers, and then based on a good portion of new teachings on these points for his followers.

1. The Suffering and Glory of Jesus Christ.

2. Jesus Christ was foreknown before the foundation of the world, (God still has his Eternal Purpose, and Jesus Christ is still central to it, that should give us great joy and hope.)

3. Increasing in the Knowledge of Jesus Christ is central to the Christian life.

4. Jesus Christ is currently an approachable, good and reliable shepherd for the Christian.

5. The Resurrection of Jesus Christ enables us to be born again. And his delay in returning is enabling more children into his kingdom through the preaching of his followers. The born again members of his kingdom on earth are the new Spiritual Israel.

The apostle Peter was an amazing man. I hope to teach in detail on the Apostle Peter soon and his gospel. And to elaborate on these five pillars and all there remarkable implications for the Christian today.

Here is another great resource, a book on the apostle Peter (by T. Austin Sparks).

What is a Churches only Foundation? – The Gospel of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ

It’s easy to say out of church and doctrinal correctness ‘Jesus is our foundation’, yet we see all the huge difference in doctrines, teachings, traditions and behavior of churches and pastors and Christians.

It is the particular gospel about Jesus Christ that a group of Christians is embracing!! Which is it’s foundation.

“The gospel” is not just the Romans Road to salvation, that is a tiny and partial part of it. A gospel is all the teachings about Jesus; past, present, and future. It explains why we exist, all Jesus did, his future. His kingship and kingdom. It explains exactly what the magnitude of a Christian is. It explains Jesus’ place and his future and our place in it. It explains the purpose of suffering and how to react to it. It explains the principalities and powers and Satan, I could go on, and on but I’ll save that for another time.

What advice do we give new Christians when they first convert? That is part of our gospel. That impacts that Christian greatly. How do we react to and treat fellow Christians when we disagree? Do we drive them away and fear it or do we value, embrace, and understand it.

That’s why no matter how hard a church tries to be correct outwardly if it’s foundation is error or is partial, we will struggle with many different things in addition to all the troubles in life that we must face anyhow.

The gospel of the kingdom of Jesus Christ, as it’s called by John and Jesus and the apostles, produced the type of churches we read about in scripture. That particular gospel. And the churches that we see today have been produced by other gospels.

That gospel must be embraced, and to be embraced it must be known, and to be known it must be preached. And to be preached it must be restored and planted into hearts of preachers and teachers.

I know with certainty that Jesus Christ is restoring it. I just hope many, many embrace it. But when we do ..there will be trouble.

The Three Types of Christian Fellowship

Below are three Categories of Christian fellowship. We absolutely need all three: but mostly #3 because it causes spiritual maturity and includes the other two. Most Christians I know only experience #2 and stay there their entire life. As it requires minimal effort and is strongly rooted in tradition.

1) General social friendship based on common beliefs, interests, goals, age or among those in same church, family, job. Having friends, Christians or non Christians, it’s important and useful and we should maintain friendships, if possible.

2) One Way ➡️ theological sharing, religious teaching or various forms of religious entertainment. (most modern church services) could be useful as a short term preparation for #3 👇🏽 !!! If it doesn’t lead to that it will revert to a religious social club, still has value but little compared to #3.

3) Two Way 🔄 spiritual sharing, unsupervised and free of human controls. The type of fellowship that God himself can lead through trained members via the Holy Spirit. Hymns, revelations, prophecies, teachings, sharing of money, interpretations, burden bearing, friendship, training, and prayers given by all, and is centered on Jesus Christ and his kingdom.

#3 should be the goal of every Christian as it pleases the Lord most and establishes his direct rule over a body of Christians, it makes him Lord over a people. This type of fellowship can be difficult to establish and maintain. As it goes against our flesh and requires the extrovert to keep silent and submit and the introverts to speak up and share. Requires training and often needs outside help and guidance but with spiritual leadership and spiritual discipleship it is not beyond what the Lord can establish in the earth. “With God all things are possible.”
