Spiritual Assumptions

For the few Christians who actively hear things from the Spirit of God periodically or intermittently. How we react to what we hear is very important. Being led of the Spirit seems to be decreasing among Christians I circle with. But there are some who actively seek and expect to hear from Jesus Christ. And a common thing I have done and seen others do is to use their logical minds to make assumptions about what God means.

When God speaks something to us or leads us in a certain direction. We should learn to stop and never again add to it with our logic. “God said this … must be then that means this….” We often with impatience project our logical assumptions onto God.

Instead just let him continue the conversation, wait on him to continue.

Example: if a young person feels led to serve God with their life they should not immediately conclude they need to go to seminar and/or pursue an income from a church. We make the spiritual assumption: “Must be God wants me to run a church for Jesus.” that may be a huge mistake.

All the disciples of Jesus had logical expectations on Jesus and he did not meet any of them. They would often try to add to what he was saying with bad assumptions.

Perfectly logical, bad assumptions do GREAT damage to what God is saying to us. They can divert us onto paths he does not have for us or divert us away from paths that he wants for us.

Assumptions can often deceive us and make us into liars if we project them, click here for another example of this.

2020 Goals For Adam

Written New Year’s Day:

My Two Primary Spiritual Goals for 2020

1) Do, speak or write only what I sincerely believe I am hearing and seeing the spirit of Jesus Christ do or say. No more, no less.

2) Quickly do just that without rationalizing, reasoning, or fear about how difficult or awkward it will make things. And without fear who I may upset.

Like Wrestling With Pigs

I don’t know what is more ridiculous, the Christianity Today’s letter about Trump’s impeachment or many Christian “leaders” response to it.

Christians battling over the affairs of human government is like the queen of England wrestling with pigs.

Do you think Jesus cared about which Cesar was in power during his life and in the next few years? I don’t. He sure never spoke of it if he did.

He was and is still busy planting another kingdom, his own on earth.

Do you think Jesus cares who is president now or in the future? I don’t.

Do you think Jesus cares if Trump gets impeached or not? If it’s an act of justice or ridiculous injustice? I don’t, at least no more than he cares about the constant injustices happening all over the earth. He cares of course but it’s solved only within his kingdom. It’s a matter of eviction now, eviction of Satan of the earth. The back and forth details of what happens within Satan’s kingdom of chaos and darkness are not Jesus’ to manage.

Preoccupation with human government makes the president way too high of a priority for most of us. Its a result of not hearing or accepting the gospel of Jesus’ kingdom. It is yet another form of idolatry, it is a love of the world, and a love for the great power over our opponents and wealth of the world.

Get a (spiritual) LIFE.

Compared to the absolute earthly kingship and Lordship of Jesus Christ it just does NOT matter. Be fired up about that dear Christian, in comparison it doesn’t make the radar.

Just pray for the president and the rest of the government, that is the extent of our involvement in the affairs of our government. He will work it out from there, trust him.
