7 things I wish I understood in my 20s

7 things I wish I knew in my 20s … yet no one told me:
1) In politics listen to a diversity of opinions, and measure them by scripture.

2) In most churches the pastors/priests have become like local kings, and they set the culture in their kingdom, not what you think it should be, if you are ok with them then it will go well with you, period, end of discussion. But this has little to do with Jesus Christ.

3) In spiritual life, pursuing Jesus Christ is the center, circumference and everything in between.

4) In relationships 95% of having a successful relationship is putting up, forgiving and over-looking, if you can’t or won’t do that nothing else really matters, it won’t work.

5) Try not to control your bad situations, be willing to be mistreated without getting angry and it tormenting you.

6) Never compare yourselves to people better than you, it just does not matter

7) Unless it is life and death, do not borrow money, you can do without it.

Ministering by A Living Hope vs. A Money Hope?

I have several people asking me for money for their church planting or building ministries. I believe in giving and sharing and being overly generous whenever possible. My wife and I love to give and share and believe in having an open hand, and we both wish we could afford to give much more than we do, to many more people than we do.

I understand  that money makes almost everything in life on this planet easier. But, I can also see that many protestant ministries, funded by wealthy churches have and are exporting a major stronghold about the ministry of the church and about money… along with some evangelism on the side.

Modern Edits to Acts 5:41

What if someone were writing more chapters to the book of Acts as they observed present day Christians?

“So they went on their way from the presence of the Council, rejoicing that they had been considered worthy to suffer shame for His name.” – Acts‬ ‭5:41‬ ‭NASB‬‬

It seems things have changed with many of us, here might be how this verse would be written with modern edits:

So they went on their way from the presence of the council, infuriated that they were shamed and confronted, they devoted themselves to defending themselves from the their pulpits along with their rights and privileges in Christ and had that council replaced in the next election with those loyal to themselves.” – Acts 5:41 revised

It is eye opening when we compare our behavior to what we read in the New Testament.
