If my children hated everything I did for them, hated how I talked, hated how I looked, hated what I said, hated all I bought for them, hated when I said ‘no’, blamed what I did in their lives on Satan. Would that not be equivalent to them hating ME?
Be careful what you call evil or blame Satan for because you might accidentally begin to hate Jesus Himself.
Loving money will not just make us sin or be a little greedy, (harmless right?) far worse, it will make us hate God and whatever it is God is doing in our lives.
We’ll whine and despise what he is doing, maybe even blame it on the devil.
If God intentionally gave you money troubles would you hate him for it?
“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.” – Matthew 6:24
If money is our focus and pursuit we will begin to have contempt for God (“be devoted to one and despise the other”) He will get in money’s way and we’ll begin to “hate” him in your life.
For years I heard Christians bash other Christians for being liberal and for voting democrat for a variety of reasons. Lately I hear liberal Christians bashing conservative Christians for voting republican for other reasons.
Fixating our attention and focus on this silly federal government with its almost-irrelevant policies is learned and I believe we learn this at church.
