“Called To Ministry”

What if God told you that your ministry was primarily to people 100 years from now and not to your current generation.

Think of the numbers of people Paul impacted because he wrote vs. the people he impacted face to face. It’s a ratio of like billions to one.

Christians who feel “called to full time ministry” almost always assume they need to be in charge of a church as speakers because that’s what people want (for now), but maybe the Lord wants to help billions of people through you in a hundred years.

But by silly tradition we demand to preach to maybe 300, 1000 if you’re good, mostly indifferent and idle Christians today who themselves sit in pews only by tradition, because you want to be in “full time ministry”. And collect a salary from pew sitters.

Let your light shine to your generation yes, but then record it somehow or write it down for future ones.

The Titanic’s Iceberg

The American society, our systems of government, money, religion, and entertainment are like the titanic cruise ship of 1911. Like nothing the world had seen up to that point.

In light of this comparison; Christians in America, who fret and panic about what satan is doing on deck. And losing our rights in society, sounds just silly.

I think we (Christians) need to take our faith more seriously. And stop loving the world systems so much.

In a sense Christians are like passengers on the titanic, except we know what is coming.

What use is there in demanding the best, high-status seats on deck? Or at dinner? Amongst those loyal to the captain? It is sinking soon anyhow. Let go of that titanic, just focus on what is important to Jesus Christ, what is important to staying alive, what is important spiritually.

In this analogy the titanic is the world system, Satan is the dense and stubborn captain headed full speed into the darkness. Scoffing that even God cannot sink his ship.

And the iceberg,…that is Jesus Christ himself! Collide with him and you are going down. He sinks the unsinkable and He crushes the uncrushable.

The reality facing Satan’s world systems…all is already lost. It is just a matter of time.

So don’t put much into your room quality on the Titanic, or your seats at dinner on the upper deck. And your general fair treatment and status on this ship. If you want to live, grab an ice pick and be ready to jump onto the iceberg.

The Only Strong Foundation

If you have been a Christian for longer than a year. What is the foundation of your spiritual life?

•Is it anything Baptist (only your Baptist organization of course not those other Baptist’s).

•Is it anything Assemblies of God?

•Is it anything this pastor? and his soon and coming riding star of a son as your pastor.

•Is it anything Roman Catholic?

If so, could they teach you ANYthing …and you’d gradually accept it?

Or could they unteach you other God things that are within you, simply because it’s not in them?

If those guys are your spiritual foundation what if they (in all seriousness) asked you to jump off a bridge with them?

Would you check in with Jesus first? Would you even know how to?

Or might you say “sure pastor which bridge?”

Or might you say, “no Jesus did not tell me that, (raise palm up to face).”

There is grave danger for a Christian in having a foundation of other Christians. It’s a huge mistake.

Jesus himself is our inner foundation and we come to know him through many others with that same foundation. If a man derives his meaning and identity by his “ministry and calling” …run in other direction.

Or a foundation of certain families who are “in the ministry”.

Or some lost denomination of holy men who should have dissolved the denomination 100 years ago. If only they had been willing to lay down their religious ambition, and be led of the spirit.
