How do you think of Jesus Christ? Just a good man who died long ago and started a religion?
If we just think of Jesus as a good man who died then we really are not seeing him as he is now, and so life becomes horrible, death is imminent, along with the rest of humanity. In fact if this is our mentality concerning Jesus, the fact that he died then there is evidence that even God prevents us from seeing him and as a result we have nothing but despair in this life.
There is an amazing experience by two disciples who were depressed and sad thinking about the death of Jesus.
While they (two disciples on the road to Emmaus) were talking and discussing, Jesus himself approached and began traveling with them. But their eyes were prevented from recognizing Him.” – Luke 24:15-16
But…if we accept His death and our death with Hm, if we accept his resurrection and the hope of our resurrections then… we can become able to see Jesus now as He currently is…A living and active life-giving Spirit.
“When He had reclined at the table with them, He took the bread and blessed it, and breaking it, He began giving it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they recognized Him; and He vanished from their sight.” – Luke 24:30-31
And to really see Jesus as he is now is like looking into a universe, it is like seeing a new creation. If you can really see him he will wreck you for all others.
